The following actions can be done:
Before you start inserting data please make sure, that your
web browser works with java-applets in version 1.4x.
Otherwise you will have limitations uploading files: the maximum
is three files, each 4 MB.
First ask for a valid author login at your organization or
institution. With this permission you can upload new data or
change your data. Please login first.
If you want to refer to an external institution, then you should
create a new set of data for this institution first.
The dialog will guide you through to the workflow area, where the data is
temporary stored. Tools for further editing are available there.
You can change the data, save it to the server or delete it.
When you save the data to the server, the data set will be
deleted in the workflow. If you want to change institutional data
that is stored in the data base you first have to search it.
Then you can find icons for deletion or editing at the bottom of
the detailed metadata page,
provided that you have the permission to change these data.
It is the same procedure for personal or authors data.
If you often want to refer to you personal data it is usefull
to store them separately as metadata. For this purpose use
the menu item New person and proceed as described above.
To insert a document select the menu item New document.
Even though it is not necessary to create institutional and
personal data first, nevertheless it is recommended to do so, if
you have references to these data. After selecting the menu item
New document fill in the metadata and save them. Then the metadata
still can be changed or deleted as long as they are in the workflow.
The metadata set should be completed before it is commited to the server.
You can add data objects to your metadata. Select the upload dialog,
it will start an applet, there you can add one or more data files or
even a directory. After all you have to commit the metadata to the server.
